Street Cry's Trekking Earns a Trip North for Winter

Mark Smith - Sunday May 12

For the fifth time in a row Godolphin's Street Cry (IRE) gelding Osborne Bulls came agonisingly close to a Group 1 success when edged out in the Doomben 10,000, while down south at Scone, Trekking, another son of Street Cry (IRE) carrying the royal blue continued on his winning way in the Listed Luskin Star Stakes.

The James Cummings-trained 4yo is in rare form, coming off a win in the Group III Hall Mark Stakes at Randwick on April 20.

The winter riches in Queensland may now be on the cards for Trekking who advanced his overall record to 7 wins, 2 seconds and 2 thirds from 18 starts with earnings of $577,495.

"Deploy went out like a scalded cat and that certainly gave him a bunny to chase," Godolphin representative Darren Beadman said.

"I thought the sectionals they were running meant they'd have to come back.

"James has got a few options for him. He'd be a good lightweight chance in something like a Stradbroke you'd have to think."

Bred by Darley, Trekking is the first foal of the 3-time winning Redoute's Choice mare Outdoor who was a daughter of the Champion 3YO filly in Australia in 2006, Serenade Rose.

A daughter of Stravinsky (USA), Serenade Rose won the Group 1 VRC Oaks, Group 1 AJC Australian Oaks and Group 1 STC Arrowfield Stud Stakes.

She had just three foals before her death in November 2011.

Outdoor has a 2yo Lonhro colt named Jetski who finished third at Hawkesbury on March 20. Not served in 2016, Outdoor had a Street Boss (USA) last spring that was destroyed after birth.

Outdoor was bred back to Ribchester (IRE) last spring.

Trekking and the South African star Oh Susanna are the standout performers in the ninth and final Australian conceived crop of Street Cry (IRE).
