Epaulette's She Shao Fly Lands SAJC Sires' Produce

Mark Smith - Saturday May 11

Tony McEvoy saddled half the field for Saturday's Group III SAJC Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m) at Morphettville and he supplied the quinella with the talented Epaulette filly She Shao Fly defeating the Hinchinbrook gelding Hinchpin.

Given a positive ride by Dwayne Dunn She Shao Fly parked outside the pacesetting Rolls before tacking control at the 300 metres. Hinchpin came from last and received a chequered passage in the straight. He closed the gap to a half-length on the line with Barcali (Zoustar) a head back in third.

A winner at Sandown when making her career debut last season, She Shao Fly came in to the Sires' of a luckless third in the Group III Breeders Stakes at Morphettville on April 27.

It was the third win in the race for Tony McEvoy.

"She just mapped a bit better today and when she began so positively, Dwayne was comfortable to put her on pace and took out all of the bad luck," McEvoy said.

"She's really strong, has had a really good prep and she was super today.

"We will spell her now, she has done a really good job, she's a stakes-winner now and is a valuable filly."

Adelaide Yearling Sale, She Shao Fly (pictured as a yearling) is a half-sister to three winners including the stakes-placed Samurai Blade (Where's The Tiger) who placed in both the Group 1 South Australian Derby and Group 1 South African Classic.

She Shao Fly's dam Shao Shao (Shinko Forest) is a winning sister to the well-travelled Dao Dao the winner of the Listed Royal Parma Stakes and runner-up in the Group 1 Emirates Stakes and Group 1 MRC Futurity Stakes.

Shao Shao was purchased by E Thoroughbreds for just $5,000 at the 2011 National Broodmare Sale. She missed in 2016 and 2017 before being covered by Reward For Effort last spring.

She Shao Fly becomes the seventh stakes-winner for Darley Stud's Epaulette who will stand at a fee of $27,500 in the upcoming season.
