Well Bred Winner for Wandjina

A three-quarter brother to dual Group I winner Russian Revolution, two year-old Wandjina colt Autocratic cast off maiden status with a well-deserved win at Newcastle on Tuesday.

Autocratic as a weanlingFourth in the Group III ATC Pago Pago Stakes to Cosmic Force and fourth in the Group III ATC The Schweppervescence to Bellevue Hill, the Peter and Paul Snowden trained Autocratic appreciated firmer ground and a drop in grade to maiden class to post his first win.

He tracked the leaders and powered to the line to win the 1400 metre by a length in a dominant display.

A $335,000 purchase for China Horse Club from the Newgate Farm draft at the 2017 Inglis Chairman's Sale as a weanling, Autocratic was bred by Mrs Belinda Bateman.

He is the fifth winner from terrific producer Ballet D'Amour (USA), who in addition to leaving dual Group I winner Russian Revolution has also produced Group III winner Turbo Miss.

From the famed Fanfreluche family, Ballet D'Amour has a weanling filly by Redoute's Choice and will foal to Snitzel this spring producing a full sibling to Russian Revolution.

Autocratic is the sixth first crop winner for Wandjina who stands at Newgate this spring at a fee of $22,000.
