G1 2YO Bolt D'Oro to Stand at Spendthrift Australia

Media Release - Saturday May 4

Bolt d'Oro (USA), the multiple Group 1-winning millionaire by Medaglia d'Oro and a leading US two-year-old of 2017, will shuttle to Spendthrift Australia to stand the upcoming breeding season.

A service fee has been set at $13,750 Inc. GST which will be payable on live foal terms.

Bolt D'Oro"Bolt d'Oro will be the highest-profile stallion to shuttle to Spendthrift Australia since we've opened our doors, and we believe he'll be very attractive to our market," said Garry Cuddy, Spendthrift Australia general manager.

"It all starts with his two-year-old form. Bolt d'Oro is widely regarded as one of the best U.S. two-year-olds of the last decade, winning a pair of respected Group Ones in very fast times and dominating fashion. He is by a proven outcross sire in Medaglia d'Oro, who needs little introduction here when it comes to his ability to sire high-class two-year-olds, and he is completely free of Danehill or Danzig blood. Bolt d'Oro established himself as one of the most popular first-season stallions in the U.S. this year, and we very much look forward to being able to show him to our breeders."

Bolt d'Oro began his racing career in the U.S. with three emphatic victories as a two-year-old, including back-to-back Group 1 wins. After capturing his debut at Del Mar, he jumped into Group 1 company to win the Del Mar Futurity (G1) over 1400 metres. In his third start, Bolt d'Oro captured Santa Anita's FrontRunner S. (G1) by 7 ¾ lengths, establishing himself as the only multiple Group 1-winning two-year-old colt from his crop in North America.

In his first start at three, Bolt d'Oro won Santa Anita's San Felipe S. (G2) before finishing runner-up to eventual Triple Crown winner Justify in the Santa Anita Derby (G1).

A US$630,000 Saratoga Select yearling, Bolt d'Oro is out of the multiple stakes-producing mare Globe Trot (USA). With his pair of Group 1 wins, Bolt d'Oro retired to stud as Medaglia d'Oro's most accomplished two-year-old colt ever in the Northern Hemisphere.
