We’re Selling Opportunity!

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday May 1
Investing successfully in broodmares is often about making an educated gamble on a young mare with a good pedigree in foal to an appealing stallion.

Edinburgh Park sold the dam of Trapeze Artist in 2014 when she was carrying the $5.5 million earnerIan Smith's Edinburgh Park is bringing a draft of 16 such mares to the Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale and with a solid reputation for trading quality mares, the draft is a must inspect featuring mares in foal to popular favourites including So You Think and Nicconi as well as stallions on an upswing such as Rubick, Caravaggio (USA), Churchill (IRE), Deep Field, Invader, Hellbent, Pride of Dubai and No Nay Never (USA).

"Most people know that we trade mares and are happy to see others do well from them, so there are plenty of bright prospects in our draft. It's about selling opportunity!" said Ian Smith.

"Trading mares is a big part of our business and it's good to look back and see that you've made a real difference to people. We sold the dams of multiple Group I winner Trapeze Artist and also Better Than Ready, now one of the hottest young sires in the country."

Edinburgh Park will offer four mares in foal to promising young sire Rubick, whose fee has been increased to $38,500 Trapeze Artist's dam Treppes was sold in the Edinburgh Park draft in 2014 to Bert Vieira for $190,000 when she was carrying Trapeze Artist, who went on to win $5.5 million on the track!

"Another good one was Allegra. We sold her in 2010 and she later produced a million dollar yearling for her new owners," Smith added.
