One to Watch – Sale

Tara Madgwick - Monday April 29
She may never be the best member of the famed South Australian ‘Discreet’ family, but this three year-old daughter of champion sire Lonhro is now a winner and may well make her presence felt as a broodmare in years to come.

LonhroTrained by Phillip Stokes, Secretly Discreet was a short priced favourite for the 1200 metre maiden at Sale on Monday and broke through with a long neck success.

Never further back than fourth in her previous four runs, she was overdue for a win and can now go to either the spelling paddock or to stud this spring as a winner.

Bred and retained to race by David Peacock in partnership with Mill Park, Secretly Discreet is the first foal and second winner for Group I SAJC Australasian Oaks winner Maybe Discreet, whose current two year-old Really Discreet (Helmet) was fourth in the Group II VRC Sires Produce Stakes.

Maybe Discreet has a weanling filly by Exceed and Excel and is in foal to Darley shuttler Frosted (USA).
