Magnus 3YO Has Plenty of Dash

Media Release - Saturday April 27

The phenomenal run of success for leading trainer, Robbie Griffiths – via the progeny of Sun Stud's Group One stallion MAGNUS – continued at Caulfield's rich VOBIS meeting today with HALVORSEN capturing the Gold Dash over 1100m in commanding fashion. Huge effort!

Magnus is the sire of HalvorsenIt was win #4 for the lightning fast Magnus 3YO who hasn't finished further back than fourth in his last 9 starts, which include a comfortable win in the VOBIS Gold Carat at Moonee Valley in January and a close second in the Group Three Manfred Stakes over 1200m at Caulfield in February.

Bred by Robbie Griffiths and one of 18 Magnus winners (from 19 runners!) for the Cranbourne trainer, Halvorsen is out of Flourishing, a half sister to BEL ESPRIT sprinter, BELTROIS – also bred, trained and raced by Robbie – who was a stakes winner over 1200m at Caulfield and multiple Group placed.

With three stakes winners in just over a week in March, Magnus will stand this season at Sun Stud at a fee of $16,500, while his long-time barnmate, Bel Esprit, will stand at $11,000.
