G3 Win for Yulong Owned Filly

Tara Madgwick - Saturday April 27
An eye-catching debut winner at Sandown earlier this month, talented More Than Ready(USA) filly Kooweerup confirmed her potential when blazing to an easy victory in the Group III SAJC Breeders Stakes at Morphettville on Saturday.

Kooweerup as a yearlingTrained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, Kooweerup replicated the success of her debut performance, settling off the pace and charging to the line to win the 1200 metre sprint by nearly two lengths over royally bred Fastnet Rock filly Memphis Rock, a full brother to stakes-winners Ennis Hill and Lake Geneva.

A $650,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Vinery Stud draft for Yulong, she was the most expensive filly by her sire sold at that sale.

She is the fourth winner from four foals to race from Group I winning Redoute's Choice mare Allez Wonder, a daughter of Group II winner Lunar Tudor and half-sister to the dam of Group I winner Tivaci. Vinery Stud offered a full brother to Kooweerup this year at Magic Millions that was passed in and she is now back in foal to More Than Ready after producing a colt by Tavistock last spring.

Kooweerup is the 193rd stakes-winner for Vinery Stud's veteran shuttler More Than Ready, who at age 22, has handed back his passport and will not be coming to Australia this spring.

His covered 64 mares last year and his final Australian crop of foals will be valued highly.
