G2 Winner Sesar a Stallion of the Future for Aquis

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday April 24

Aquis are pleased to announce the acquisition of Sebring's outstanding dual Group-winning colt Sesar .

Sesar will race on in the Aquis silksPreviously raced in partnership, Aquis have increased its ownership to 100 percent of the colt, with an agreement to lease him back to the Proven Thoroughbreds syndicate until his retirement from the racetrack.

A winner of his third start in the Gr.3 Ken Russell Memorial Classic (1200m) over eventual Magic Millions 3YO Guineas winner Boomsara with Zoustar's outstanding Group One colt Lean Mean Machine in third, Sesar ended his juvenile career with a solid fourth in the Gr.1 JJ Atkins Plate (1600m), just on two lengths from The Autumn Sun and Zousain, with that pair going on to finish one-two in the Gr1 Golden Rose (1400m).

Resuming for his 3YO season, Sesar was all class in the Gr.2 Roman Consul Stakes (1200m), showing an outstanding turn of foot to come from off the pace to defeat Sandbar by over a length in a performance that saw the colt join previous Roman Consul winners Brazen Beau, Zoustar, Foxwedge, Fastnet Rock and Exceed And Excel.

After a run in the Gr.1 Coolmore Stud Stakes in Melbourne the colt was sent to the paddock for a spell before connections elected to bypass the Autumn 3YO campaign and focus on the Spring sprinting riches.

Having now been transferred to the Rosehill stable of Wayne, Michael and John Hawkes, Sesar will race in the Aquis silks, colours worn in Group 1 performances this season by Extra Brut, Fundamentalist and Siege Of Quebec, who recorded a stunning third in the Gr.1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) on the final day of The Championships.

Aquis would like to thank Proven Thoroughbreds' Jamie Walter and previous trainer Steven O'Dea on laying the foundations for what we feel is going to be an exciting horse once he has fully matured, and with numerous opportunities on offer during the Spring leading towards the inaugural $7.5million The Golden Eagle (1500m) at Rosehill Gardens on November 2, we are looking forward to the campaign ahead.
