Derby Winning Owner Wins Boot!

Tara Madgwick - Sunday April 7
Derby winning owner breeder Ross Williams tasted the very highs of racing on Saturday when his three year-old gelding Angel of Truth won the Group I ATC Australian Derby and he was back in the winner's circle out in the bush on Sunday when his two year-old Verrazano (USA) gelding Superium won the $150,000 Wellington Boot.

Superium was retained to race by Derby winning owner breeder Ross WilliamsTrained by Joe Pride, Superium won his debut at Bathurst back in March and made it two from two when scoring a long neck win in the rich country juvenile feature over 1100 metres.

A homebred for William's Superhorse Trust, Superium was offered at the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale but passed in shy of his $60,000 reserve and has now won more than double that sum in prizemoney.

Superium is the second winner from Rosie's Halo, who had a double at the meeting as his older half-sister by Nicconi, Jetgirl, won her fifth race when saluting over 900 metres.

By Al Maher from former brilliant Group III winner Brief Embrace, Rosie's Halo has a yearling filly by Manhattan Rain and is in foal to Rubick.

Superium is from the first and only Australian crop of More Than Ready's Group I winning son Verrazano, who shuttled to Coolmore for one season.
