Two Out of Two for Meuse

A $500,000 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling purchase from the Newgate Farm draft, blue-blooded two year-old Snitzel filly Meuse made it two wins in as many starts when saluting at Caulfield on Saturday.

Meuse - image Grant CourtneyThe Anthony Freedman trained filly won her debut at Bendigo last month and stepped out in tougher grade to score a determined short head win in the open juvenile event over 1100 metres.

Bred by Blake Sandblom and Henry Field, Meuse was foaled and raised at Newgate and is the first winner for Group II winner Precious Lorraine, a full sister to stakes-winner Lucky Raquie from the family of champion sire Redoute's Choice.

Newgate Farm sold Precious Lorraine last year at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale to Baramul Stud for $650,000 and also sold her current yearling, a filly by Sebring, at Magic Millions this year for $300,000 to Mitchell Bloodstock /McEnnis Racing.
