Timing is Everything

Tara Madgwick - Thursday April 4
They say ‘timing is everything’ and for Stuart Ramsay of Turangga Farm that couldn’t be truer as his select draft of three yearlings for the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale includes a close relation to this year’s Golden Slipper winner Kiamichi and Australian Derby contender Cossetot.

Turangga Farm will offer Lot 52, a lovely Written Tycoon filly from Impeach, who is a half-sister to Group I winners Denman and Preserve as well as Ouachita, the dam of Kiamichi and Cossetot.

"You buy these mares from Darley and you never know what can happen in the pedigree,” said Stuart Ramsay.

"They have so many well-bred fillies going to the best sires so you get every opportunity for the family to improve.

"We thought Written Tycoon was a great mating for the mare as it gives you the double cross of Vain and Marscay, both Golden Slipper winners.”

Written Tycoon has already achieved Group I success with a Marscay double up in Tycoon Tara and the double cross of Vain has produced world champion sprinter Black Caviar, Golden Slipper winner Crystal Lily and six other Group I winners.

Turangga will also offer two top class colts by serious Group I sire Teofilo (IRE), the sire of Group I stars such as Happy Clapper, Kermadec, Cross Counter, Humidor and Palentino.

"They are both terrific colts from top class racemares and stakes producers,” Ramsay added.
