Sweet Redemption Makes it Three Stakes Winners on the Day for Snitzel

Mark Smith - Saturday August 19
What an amazing start Snitzel has made to the new season, the reigning Champion stallion chalked up a third stakes winner on Saturday when the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Sweet Redemption led every step of the way in the $150,000 Group III Sydney Markets Toy Show Quality (1300m) at Randwick.
Making her seasonal debut under Adam Hyeronimus, Sweet Redemption held the strong finish of the luckless Euro Angel by a long-head with Imposing Lass the same distance back in third. (photos Steve Hart).

Despite not having a start since failing in the Group III Dark Jewel Stakes at Scone, Bott said the daughter of Snitzel had been brought to fitness by three trials.
"She was nice and forward going into the race and the way the pattern of the day's been playing we took that approach to make it a good test," Bott said.
"She is quite fit and Adam gave her a good positive ride and she was strong enough to hold on late."
Hyeronimus said everything went to plan.
"Gai said she's fit and had three trials and don't be scared to bowl along," he said.
"I had an uncontested lead for the majority of the race. I really picked up the pace at the 600, the track's hard and suits Gai's horses and everything panned out well."
Winner of the Group III Festival Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill Gardens back in December last year, Sweet Redemption advances her overall record to 6 wins, 5 seconds and 4 thirds from 22 starts with earnings of $389,935.
Purchased by Round Table Racing/James Harron Bloodstock for $120,000 from the Bell View Park draft at the 2014 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Sweet Redemption is the third foal of the unraced Red Ransom (USA) mare Redeeming Lass a daughter of Gai Waterhouse's former top-class mare Danglissa (Danzero) whose 6 wins included the Group I Flight Stakes.
Redeeming Lass was not covered in 2014 and missed in 2015. She has a yearling filly by Snitzel's Group I Australian Guineas winner Wandjina.
