One to Watch – Newcastle

Tara Madgwick - Thursday March 21
Mark Newnham has already tasted Group I success with Smart Missile thanks to Maid of Heaven and this ‘smart’ winner by the same sire will be winning more races as the season progresses.

Smart Missile is the sire of Full RecognitionPlaced at his first two starts to promising horses Classique Legend and Green Aeon, Gooree Stud homebred Full Recognition cast off maiden status with a soft two and a half length win in the 1300 metre maiden at Newcastle on Thursday.

A short priced favourite, he did the job in style and will be well placed coming back to town.

Full Recognition is a half-brother to Group I placed stakes-winner Whispered Secret from Group II placed Encosta de Lago mare Zutara, whose stakes-winning dam Matras is a half-sister to dual Group I winner Prized Icon.

Smart Missile was super popular at his new home at Twin Hills Stud last year covering 222 mares.
