First Win for $1.2 Million Snitzel Colt

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday March 20
The hot run being enjoyed by champion sire Snitzel continued on Wednesday when his expensive two year-old colt Dresden Green cast off maiden status at Hawkesbury.

Dresden Green as a yearlingSecond at his first two starts, the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained colt found a race to suit in the 1300 metre maiden run on heavy ground and was always prominent before scoring by half a length as favourite over another Snitzel colt in Killen.

A $1.2 million Inglis Easter purchase from the Bhima Thoroughbreds draft for G Waterhouse / Blue Sky Bloodstock (FBAA) / K Radcliffe, Dresden Green runs for a Syndicate headed by Arrowfield Stud in whose colours he runs.

Bred by Glentree Pastoral, Dresden Green is the first foal of superbly bred Stravinsky (USA) mare Asscher, a placed half-sister to Group I ATC Australian Oaks winner Shower of Roses from Group I winner Marquise, a daughter of legendary blue hen Eight Carat (GB).

This branch of the famous family has been active in recent years producing last year's Group I ATC Vinery Stud Stakes winner Hiyaam and this Saturday's Golden Slipper contender Catch Me.

Assher has a yearling filly by Snitzel and is back in foal to him again after losing a Redoute's Choice filly last year.

Dresden Green is the tenth Australian two year-old winner this season for Snitzel.
