Reigning champion sire Snitzel has the pedal to the metal as we move through April with 14 winners in the past seven days including a two year-old double on Tuesday for a couple of well bred first starters.

Virginia Dream as a yearlingOpening her account at Murwillumbah was the Toby Edmonds trained filly Virginia Dream, who was a class above in the 1100 metre juvenile plate skipping over the heavy ground to win by two lengths as a hot favourite.

A $210,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Segenhoe Stud draft for Blue Sky Bloodstock, she is the first winner from imported US Group II winner Buckeupbuttercup (USA).

Segenhoe will offer her full sister as Lot 392 at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale next month.

Also winning on debut at Bendigo as a short priced favourite was the Anthony Freedman trained filly Meuse.

She led all the way and cruised clear to win the 1100 metre maiden by two and a quarter lengths.

A $500,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Newgate Farm draft for Hilldene / Gelagotis Racing, Meuse is the first winner for royally bred Group III winning Encosta de Lago mare Precious Lorraine.

Meuse as a yearlingFrom the family of champion sire Redoute's Choice, Precious Lorraine was bought by Newgate Farm for $1.5 million at the Teeley Assets Dispersal in 2014 and was then re-offered by Newgate at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale in 2018 where she was bought by Gerry Harvey's Baramul Stud for $650,000.

Newgate Farm sold the current yearling from Precious Lorraine, a filly by Sebring, for $300,000 at the Magic Millions to Mitchell Bloodstock (FBAA)/McEnnis Racing

She now has a weaning filly by I Am Invincible and is back in foal to Yarraman Park's super sire.
