Locally Sold Fillies Dominate Adelaide Classic

Media Release - Monday March 11
The Adelaide Yearling Sale received the best possible boost on the eve of the 2019 auction with a pair of fillies purchased from last year's auction dominating today's $200,000 Magic Millions Adelaide 2YO Classic (1200m) at Morphettville.

Done By MeDone By Me, aided by a copybook ride from star apprentice Kayla Crowther, finished too well for last start stakes performed youngster Li'l Kontra in South Australia's richest juvenile race.

A $36,000 buy at the Adelaide Yearling Sale last year, Done By Me drew clear late to give her large ownership base plenty to cheer about with the half length success.

Trainer Phillip Stokes scooped a $10,000 sales credit voucher to spend at this week's Adelaide Yearling Sale with the success for the Bon Hoffa filly.

"That was a super win," Stokes said. "Kayla gave her a lovely ride."

"She'll go the paddock now. I'm rapt for the Dunns and the Byrnes' - they've been great supporters of the stable."

"She travelled over the other night and she's done everything professional," Stokes added.

The win continued the great run of success for Stokes' outstanding apprentice Kayla Crowther.

"I think she was really looking for the 1200 after her last start," she said. "She was winding up late, but they were just a bit quick for her."

"The 1200 (metres) was just what she wanted. She relished it - she pushed her way through a tight gap - she's a great racehorse," Crowther added.

Done By Me was bred and sold last year by Bowness Stud and the stud presents a full sister (Lot 430) at this week's 2019 edition of the sale. She will go under the hammer on Wednesday.

Today's 2YO Classic runner-up Li'l Kontra was a $110,000 buy in Adelaide last year and has already earned valuable black type for connections including trainer Ryan Balfour.

Golden Grove Stud will present a Shamus Award half brother to Li'l Cashy as well as Cashedas Lot 42 tomorrow.

Rising talent Pretty Glass enhanced her outstanding record when she scored in the very next race at Morphettville for top horsewoman Sue Jaensch.

Pretty Glass is from the top producing Generous mare Generous Tristana and is a half sister to stakes winners Von Costa Glass and Have Another Glass.

The latest yearling from Generous Tristana, a Zebedee filly will go under the hammer on Wednesday for Cornerstone Stud as Lot 329.

The 2019 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale commences tomorrow at 10am (SA time).
