Canterbury Winner for Rubick

Tara Madgwick - Friday February 22
Coolmore young gun Rubick added a fourth metropolitan winner to his tally when promising filly Belitsa produced a tenacious effort to win at Canterbury on Friday night.

Belitsa as a yearlingSecond on debut at Gosford last month, the Peter and Paul Snowden trained filly led throughout and was courageous in the run to the line holding off all challengers to win the 1200 metre maiden by a half neck.

A $100,0000 Inglis Classic Book 2 purchase for Triple Crown Syndications from the Ascot Park draft, Belitsa is the first winner from Beaver Rocks, a Fastnet Rock half-sister to stakes-winner Care to Think from the family of Group I winner Hard to Get.

Belitsa is the fourth winner, all of them metropolitan winners, for Rubick, who also has three stakes horses in Alburq, Biscara and Krameric.

A brilliantly fast son of Encosta de Lago from the family of Redoute's Choice, Rubick was super popular with breeders last spring covering 262 mares at a fee of $17,600.
