First to strike was the highly regarded, Nigel Tiley trained 2YO Qiji Swordsman who produced a dominant performance in the 2YO event over 1000m. Following the victory Tiley revealed his impressive 2YO has two upcoming Gr.1 targets - the Gr.1 Sistema Stakes at Ellerslie in March and the Gr.1 Manawatu Sires Produce Stakes in April.

A few races later ShamExpress' talented daughter Bothered provided her sire with another new winner in the 3YO event over 1200m. Bothered is also held in high regard by her trainer Keith Opie who commented that he will target some of the better fillies' races with her this Autumn.

Yet another exciting first-crop 3YO filly by ShamExpress, Shamwow, will have her first black type start on Saturday in the Gr.3 Vanity Stakes over 1400m at Flemington.
