Brazen Beau Hitting his Straps

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday February 12
It's only Tuesday and already it's been a big week for Darley's young I Am Invincible son Brazen Beau, who has moved to the top of the Australian First Season Sires List by earnings and had two cracking colts set the sale ring alight at Riverside Stables on Tuesday selling for $550,000 and $480,000.

A brave second placing in the $2million Inglis Millennium last Saturday for Brazen Beau colt Accession was enough to send his sire zooming past Better than Ready to take up the top spot on the Australian First Season Sires List.

That prizemoney margin may well be extended this month given an impressive barrier trial win for his exciting colt Tassort at Rosehill on Tuesday giving the promise of better things to come for the Golden Slipper favourite. (read more about Tassort here)

The burgeoning success of Brazen Beau was reflected in the sale ring on Tuesday with Murrulla Stud achieving an outstanding result with their Brazen Beau colt from Pouter that made $550,000 when knocked down to Bruce Perry Bloodstock.

The colt had an important pedigree update on the eve of the sale when his half-sister Rock Dove won the Listed Strutt Stakes in Tasmania for Godolphin.

Aquis Farm also kicked a big goal with a Brazen Beau colt from Rose of Hallowell making $480,000 to the bid of Laceby Lodge.

Bred by the Aquis Farm Happy Valley Syndicate, the colt is a half-brother to stakes-winner Lusaha from a full sister to Group II winner Court Command. Rose of Hallowell was bought for $200,000 at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale in 2017 by Aquis Happy Valley Synd/Blue Sky Bloodstock so has delivered a perfect result with her first foal for her new owners.

Brazen Beau covered 92 mares last spring at Darley Victoria at a slightly reduced fee of $38,500, so breeders that supported him will be feeling well satisfied with their selection.
