Frankel's Easter Graduate Fratelli Romps by Nine Lengths in Japan

Mark Smith - Monday February 11

Following a debut win at Hanshin back in March last year, the $850,000 Inglis Easter graduate Fratelli lost his way at his next three starts but the son of Frankel looked to be back at the top of his game when keeping up a relentless gallop to win eased down by nine lengths in a 1900 metres allowance at Kyoto on February 8.

Trained by Manabu Ikezoe and ridden by Yusuke Fujioka, Fratelli (pictured as a yearling)   set up a lead of some 15 lengths in the middle stages and was eased down in the final 100 metres for a spectacular win.

Which will be good news for Stonehouse Thoroughbreds who will be offering a Fastnet Rock half-sister to Fratelli at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.

Bred by China Horse Club and partners, Fratelli is the first winner for Lovetorn, a stakes-winning half-sister to Group III winner Lovemelikearock who is a three-quarter sister to the Stonehouse yearling.

Lovetorn has an interesting story of her own.

From the last of three Australian crops sired by that wonderfully brave, champion racehorse Giant's Causeway (USA), Lovetorn was sold as a yearling for $60,000. She did all her racing in South Africa where she was a stakes-winner of six races. And placed in another six of her 21 starts.

Eight year's after leaving these shores she was repatriated in 2015 carrying a positive test to the world champion Frankel.

A few months after landing she was in the Glastonbury Farm draft at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale where she was bought by China Horse Club for $550,000.

The Frankel colt, Fratelli, was consigned by Glastonbury Farm to Easter 2017 where he was purchased by Katsumi Yoshida. (watch the yearling Fratelli parade here)

Two year's after she was sold at the National Broodmare Sale, Lovetorn was back in the same ring where she made $450,000 to the bid of agent David Lucas on behalf of Phoenix Thoroughbreds an emerging force in the bloodstock world.

From the family of Arazi (USA), Noverrie, Doubles Partner Joyeux Danseur and Northerly's sire Serheed (USA), Lovetorn has a filly foal by Fastnet Rock and was covered by Pride Of Dubai last spring.
