In It To Win It

Tara Madgwick - Monday February 4
A total of 384 two year-olds accepted for the Golden Slipper last week, so we thought a sale mail of who's still in the hunt would be interesting.

Magic Millions sale-topper FarettiSires with the highest numbers include I Am Invincible (41), Snitzel (34), Fastnet Rock and Not A Single Doubt (both on 22) and Exceed and Excel (18).

First season sires with significant numbers include Deep Field (16), Brazen Beau (9), Shooting to Win (9), Dissident (7) and Rubick (6).

Sorting the list by price order reveals a dozen two year-olds sold for $1million or more still in contention with the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Magic Millions sale-topper Faretti at the top of the list.

Purchased for $2million from the Yarraman Park draft, Faretti looked good in winning his first trial at Randwick on January 24.

33 yearlings sold for $1million or more in 2018, but only 12 are second acceptors for the Golden Slipper.
