Trudeau Goes Back to Back for New Connections

Media Release - Friday January 25

Back to back wins with gavelhouse New Zealand purchase Trudeau was a great way to kick off the New Year for West Melton-based trainers Tony and Lyn Prendergast.

TrudeauSold on account of Cambridge-based Murray Baker for $5,500 in September 2018, the son of Pins is in his element on the mainland, placing in three of his five starts in his short time with the stable, earning $20,860 in prizemoney.

Trudeau  is raced by a number of existing stable connections with plenty of racing left in the now five year old according to co-trainer Lyn Prendergast "He arrived in great order from the spelling farm when we bought him and syndicated him between a mix of existing stable clients and some new ones including a few people that have been more involved with Standardbreds plus jockey Sam Wynne who is currently injured,"

"We train on our own property in West Melton where we have a good set up on 22 acres with our own track."

"We usually have between 10 to 14 in work at one time and find the horses are very relaxed and thrive in work at the property."

Off the back of an outstanding four length win at Otago's meeting on 3 January, Trudeau started at Gore on Saturday as one of the favoured runners over the 1335m trip and in the hands of Jacob Lowry, didn't let punters down. The stable will now look to Riccarton on February 9 for his next run.

"We have given Trudeau, who we call Blake, four days off and are now getting him set for his next run."

Bred by Waikato Stud, the now five-time winner is out of the unraced Fast 'N' Famous mare Paris Carver who is a daughter of multiple Group winner Starcent (Centaine) and a half-sister to Gr.1 1000 Guineas runner-up and wonderful producer, Ambitious (Last Tycoon).

Off the back of another successful fortnightly sale with all but one Lot in the 18 Lot catalogue selling, entries for the next gavelhouse.com New Zealand auction are open and due by Monday 28 January at 7pm.
