Inglis Easter Online

Media Release - Wednesday January 23

The sale that has produced the likes of The Autumn Sun, Merchant Navy, Estijaab, Russian Revolution, Mossfun, Pinot and Flying Artie in recent years has again attracted a stunning catalogue for 2019.

The Autumn Sun is the pin up boy for Inglis EasterThe Australian Easter Yearling Sale catalogue is now available online and its depth and quality is again without peer in the southern hemisphere's yearling sale season.

Among this year's spectacular Easter catalogue of 450 yearlings are 39 siblings to Group 1 winners such as The Autumn Sun, Merchant Navy, Sunlight, Lankan Rupee, Brazen Beau, Shoals, Fawkner, Starspangledbanner, Catchy, Dundeel, Ivictory, Lucky Bubbles, Shooting To Win, She Will Reign, Shamus Award, Aerolithe and Pinot.

There is also progeny of 34 Group 1-winning mares such as Hasna, River Dove, Pear Tart, Our Egyptian Raine, Rostova, Steps in Time, Brazilian Pulse, Provocative, Headway and Dizelle.

Super stallion Snitzel is the leading sire with 37 entries while Sebring (33), Fastnet Rock (31), I Am Invincible (31) Vancouver (25), Redoute's Choice (22), Zoustar (21), Medaglia d'Oro (19), Pride of Dubai (19) and So You Think (18) round out the top 10.

There is, as always, a strong international flavour with yearlings by the likes of Deep Impact, Frankel, Lord Kanaloa, Tapit and Harbinger also catalogued.

Arrowfield Stud is leading vendor with 55 entries ahead of Coolmore Stud (43), Kitchwin Hills (23), Segenhoe Stud (22) and Widden Stud (22).

Arrowfield's John Messara is thrilled with the strength and diversity of his draft.

"Our 2019 Inglis Easter draft is built around the stallion power of the Redoute's Choice dynasty, our rising star Dundeel and Japan's super sire Deep Impact," Messara said.

"We very much look forward to welcoming new and returning Inglis clients to the Big Barn at Riverside in April.

"Seeing Arrowfield Easter graduates Estijaab win the Golden Slipper and The Autumn Sun win three Group Ones in 2018 was very satisfying.

"Seventeen of Arrowfield's last 26 Group 1-winning sale graduates have come out of our Inglis Easter consignments."

Inglis' General Manager of Bloodstock Sebastian Hutch said the Easter catalogue had something for everyone, not just those looking for the high-priced future stallion prospects.

"The significance of the Easter Yearling Sale is perfectly illustrated by the fact that the three most valuable colts to race in Australia in 2018, The Autumn Sun, Merchant Navy and Trapeze Artist, are all graduates of the sale,'' Hutch said.

"Similarly the value to be found at the sale is further demonstrated by the likes of Spring Group 1 winners Aristia and Land Of Plenty both having been sourced at Easter for $80,000.

"There is a large volume of well-bred fillies in the book, which is particularly exciting given how hard it is traditionally to gain entry to these good families.

"Already there is huge interest in the sale from buyers and we are looking forward to another fantastic renewal of what is the best yearling sale in the southern hemisphere."

The 2019 Australian Easter Yearling Sale will be held at Riverside Stables from April 9-10.

The sale will begin at 11am each morning.

Hard copies of the Easter catalogue will be available within a fortnight.
