Group One Path for Wow Factor Filly

Tara Madgwick - Monday January 21

ShamExpress (O'Reilly) filly Shamwow could not have been more impressive when beating a highly regarded field of gallopers at just her second raceday start yesterday.

ShamexpressA A$300,000 Magic Millions purchase by Busuttin Racing, Shamwow, who held a Cox Plate nomination this season, has always indicated exceptional talent to her connections whose patient approach with the good looking half sister to Group winner Soubrettes (High Chaparral) looks set to reap significant rewards.

Shamwow produced an explosive turn of foot in the Ladbrokes Plate at Sale to come from last position entering the straight and register a 3.3 length winning margin.

"It's great to see her do that as we think she is a Gr.1 filly", commented trainer Trent Busuttin.

"Safely through this run we'll look for a race in town on a big, roomy track like Flemington to give her more experience then next month there is the Gr.3 Vanity Stakes for fillies over 1400m before the Gr.1 Australian Guineas over 1600m in March".

Shamwow is from the first crop of Leading First Season Sire ShamExpress who has 23 yearlings catalogued for sale over New Zealand Bloodstock's National Yearling Sales Series which commences at Karaka next week.

Bred by Windsor Park Stud, Shamwow has a close relative (Lot 340) catalogued for sale at Karaka out of her half sister Risque Business (Volksraad) with the yearling colt being by another of Windsor Park's successful Karaka yearling sale graduates, champion racehorse and leading young sire So You Think.
