South African Double for Foxwedge

Newgate Farm's quiet achiever Foxwedge delivered a winning double at Kenilworth in South Africa on Saturday highlighted by an impressive debut victory for three year-old filly Run Fox Run.

Run Fox Run was a $420,000 Inglis Easter yearlingThe Brett Crawford trained filly scored a dominant two length win in the 1000 metre maiden for fillies and mares.

She was a $420,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Craig Roscoe and Brett Crawford from the Mill Park draft making her the most expensive yearling by her sire sold at that sale.

Run Fox Run is a half-sister to stakes-winner Guard of Honour and is the third winner from General Nediym mare Victory Cry, a full sister to stakes-winner Victory Chant and half-sister to stakes-winner Reldas from the family of Group I winner Serious Speed.

Mill Park will offer the current yearling from Victory Cry, a colt by Written Tycoon, at Inglis Easter.

Foxwedge made it a winning double when his smart mare Infamous Fox scored a neck win in the open handicap over 1400 metres.

Trained by Candice Dawson, Infamous Fox is a stakes-winner that has won six of 15 starts.

A modest $25,000 Magic Millions purchase for Central Route Trading from the Glastonbury Farm draft, Infamous Fox is the best of two winners from French, a half-sister by Nadeem to Group III winner Typhoon Billie.

French was covered again by Foxwedge last spring.

A value son of Fastnet Rock, Foxwedge delivers plenty of winners and is the sire of 11 stakes-winners, three of them Group I winners.
