Millennium Plan for Whittington Winner

Tara Madgwick - Friday January 11
Better Than Ready is not the only young Queensland first season sire posting winners this season with Whittington adding a third to his tally following a debut victory at Wagga on Friday for Washington Towers.

WhittingtonTrained at Canberra by Todd Smart, Washington Towers was specced at long odds and led all the way to win the 1000 metre maiden by a neck over the heavily backed favourite Redicon, a flashy chestnut son of Deep Field.

Washington Towers was a $62,500 Inglis Ready to Race purchase from the Lionheart Thoroughbreds draft for Tod Smart, who is hoping to secure a start in the $2million Inglis Millennium on February 9 for his talented colt.

He is the fifth winner from Gee Trump, a half-sister to Group III winner Sam Sung a Song from the family of dual Group I winner Global Glamour.

Washington Towers is the third winner for Tale of the Cat (USA) stallion Whittington, a brilliant winner of the Listed ATC Breeders Plate that stands at Grandview Stud in Queensland at a fee of $6,600.

Whittington covered his biggest book of 107 mares last spring.
