Golden Slipper Form on the First of September

Media Release - Tuesday July 25
Having a team of fit and happy stallions at the start of a busy breeding season is number one priority at Newgate Farm.

The Newgate roster now features 13 stallions and their physical and mental preparation for spring is an important process overseen by Breeding Shed Manager Peter Keating that is highlighted in this video featuring Wandjina.

Wandjina enjoys his workout! The stallions enjoy daily ridden exercise that has them fit and focused for the task ahead.

"We've developed a program to get these horses fit for the breeding season," said Peter Keating.

"They trot for about two miles to warm up and then they canter and do some strong pacework for about a mile and a half, to two miles, five days a week and they really enjoy it.

"We try and give them every little bit of attention we can.

"We need them in Golden Slipper form on the first of September!"
