Blue Hen in the Making

Tara Madgwick - Friday December 28
The $150,000 Listed Gosford Guineas is run this afternoon with blue-blooded Shamus Award filly Rosina Kojonup looking to add a stakes win to her already impressive record and bring further glory to her dam Courgette.

Courgette - the goose that lays golden eggsWith two easy wins from three starts, the Bjorn Baker trained half-sister to Golden Slipper winner She Will Reign has always shown above average ability and gets her chance to turn that into Black type in this 1200 metre sprint.

A $425,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Yarraman Park draft for Attunga Stud / Blandford Bloodstock, Rosina Kojonup is the second foal of Charge Forward mare Courgette, who has made a spectacular start to her stud career.

Her first foal She Will Reign (by Manhattan Rain) won six races and over $3million in prizemoney with the Group I MVRC Moir Stakes adding to her Golden Slipper victory.

Her third foal is undefeated two year-old Time to Reign (colt by Time for War), who made $325,000 at the Magic Millions and has won his only two starts and already banked over $160,000 in prizemoney.

Courgette has a yearling filly by Time for War that is entered for Inglis Easter 2019 and produced a colt foal this year by I Am Invincible.

Courgette was sold for $2.1 million at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale in foal to I Am Invincible with E Thoroughbreds signing the docket and while it was plenty of money, subsequent events would indicate Courgette is a blue hen in the making and a stakes win today for Rosina Kojonup would be the icing on the cake.

Courgette is now in foal to champion sire Snitzel…. sale topper of 2021?
