Tara Madgwick - Sunday December 23
High Chaparral’s champion son Dundeel has a handy three year-old in South Africa with lightly raced Atyaab scoring his second win at Turffontein on Saturday.

Atyaab as a yearlingTrained by Mike de Kock, he beat older horses over 2000 metres to score a long head win, his second from just five starts with two minor placings.

A $260,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Shadwell from the Arrowfield Stud draft, Atyaab is a half-brother to stakes-winner Vesper and is the fifth winner from Group II winner Sylvaner.

Sylvaner has been married to Dundeel since Atyaab was born and has a two year-old filly and weanling colt by him, but no yearling having missed in 2016.

With his oldest progeny now three, Dundeel has been consistently producing nice winners and has good representation at upcoming sales in 2019.

Atyaab was not the only Aussie bred winner at this meeting with High Seas Beauty (5m High Chaparral (IRE) x Attessa (USA) also successful in winning her fourth race from 15 starts.

Waldorf Astoria as a yearlingAt the Kenilworth meeting three year-old Fastnet Rock filly Waldorf Astoria broke her maiden scoring over 2000 metres at her fourth start for the Joey Ramsden stable.
