Brad Waters - Tuesday August 15

Katelyn Mallyon made the most of a lucky escape from serious injury when booting home Sistine Saint at Tuesday's Geelong Synthetic meeting.

Mallyon was flung upwards before hitting the track hard when Isere leapt into the air when the barriers opened to start the APCO Service Stations F&M Maiden Plate (1100m). The footage of the incident is below.

The incident had the potential to be nasty but Mallyon was up on her feet quickly before passing a doctor's examination to take her next ride on the Andrew Noblet-trained Sistine Saint in the J.T Dixon Maiden Plate (1900m).

Mallyon guided Sistine Saint, a brother to the Group II winner Sistine Angel and a half-brother to the Group III winner Sistine Demon, to a 1 ¼ length win in his $22,000 assignment.

"I was really lucky," Mallyon told Racing Victoria.

"It was pretty graphic to watch when I came back into the rooms and it definitely felt graphic but we're all OK and the horse is OK."
