Street Cry's Osborne Bulls Powers to Victory in Linlithgow Stakes

After Darley Stud's great Lonhro sired the first two winners on Derby Day, the charismatic champion featured as the sire of the dam of the admirably honest Osborne Bulls winner of the $300,000 Group II The TAB Stakes (1200m) (Linlithgow Stakes) who may just have earned a trip to the World Cup meeting in Dubai next year.

Making his first start since his meritorious third in The Everest three weeks back, Osborne Bulls came from well back in the field under Hugh Bowman to defeat Bons Away (Bon Hoffa) by three-quarters of a length with Runson (Delzao) a long-head back in third. (photos Grant Courtney).

"I don't look at the breeding all that much but when I saw he was by Street Cry, that brought a smile to my face," Bowman said.

"He was the best horse in the race and I thought he was my best ride for the day. His work here Tuesday morning was extraordinary."

With his third stakes success, Osborne Bulls advances his record to 9 wins, 2 seconds and 2 thirds from 14 starts with earnings of $1,771,510.

Winning trainer James Cummings said Osborne Bulls overcame injury to be one of the most consistent horses in training.

The 5yo son of Street Cry did not make his first start until July last year.

"He's a super horse," Cummings enthused.

"He had Everest form coming into it but he had to hump 59kgs and he had never been up the straight before but it's not too often that Hugh Bowman comes back from a track gallop with a twinkle in his eyes that he did with Osborne Bulls."

Cummings said the team will sit down and have a think about running Osborne Bulls may next Saturday in the Group 1 VRC Classic.

"We've got Home Of The Brave there and we might have Kementari there," he said.

"We will have to have a think about it but it's been tossed around in running this horse in the Al Quoz next year and this might be a really interesting horse to put in front of Sheikh Mohamed and show him a little bit of the type of horse we can breed in Australia."

A half-brother to the stakes-placed Badajoz (Commands), Osborne Bulls is the second foal of the Listed Ramornie Handicap winner Jerezana (Lonhro).

Jerezana has a 2yo colt by Brazen Beau named Mercury and was covered by that stallion last spring after missing to Epaulette in 2016.
