Seven in Seven for Pierro

Tara Madgwick - Thursday September 20
Golden Slipper winning sire Pierro made it seven winners in seven days when Tulip's little brother Sikorsky opened his account at Sale on Thursday.

Sikorsky as a yearlingTrained out of Lindsay Park by the Hayes / Dabernig training partnership, Sikorsky scored an easy two and a quarter length win in the 1600 metre maiden at his third run back from a spell.

Unlike his Group III winning full sister Tulip, who is a speedy precocious type that placed in a Golden Slipper, Sikorsky probably has more in common with his half-sister Sacred Eye, who won the Group III MRC Schweppes Classic at 2000 metres and was fourth in the Group I SAJC Oaks.

A $500,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Coolmore draft for Lindsay Park Racing, Sikorsky is the fifth winner from Group III winner Musidora, a daughter of Rock of Gibraltar (IRE) from the Grand Luxe family that has produced champion sires Encosta de Lago and Flying Spur as well as more recent Group I winners such as I am a Star.

It's been raining winners for Pierro this week an encouraging sign as we move through the spring.

A complete outcross sire being by Lonhro from a family free of Danehill blood, Pierro is standing at Coolmore at a fee of $88,000.
