One to Watch – Pakenham

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday August 21
Tony Nicconi is not the only speedy three year-old by Nicconi trained at Lindsay Park with this impressive winner at Pakenham on Tuesday saluting as a short priced favourite.

Like Tony Nicconi, Final Choice is a homebred for the Devitt and Gordon families that raced their sire Nicconi.

NicconiShe made her debut in the Group III VRC Maribyrnong Plate last year finishing fifth beaten two lengths behind Run Naan and had not been seen since until today.

The Hayes/ Dabernig trained filly hit the ground running and led throughout, kicking away down the running to win the 1000 metre open maiden by three and a quarter lengths

Final Choice is a half-sister to stakes-winner Wait for No One and is the fourth winner from stakes-placed Divine Choice, a three-quarter sister to Group II winner Valentia.

Nicconi has made a fast start to the new season with nine winners headed by a new Group III winner in Tony Nicconi.

His rising star Nature Strip is still without an Everest slot, but may impress slot holders at his next two runs.

Nature Strip is due to race again on September 8 in the Group II MVRC McEwen Stakes (1000m) on his way to the $500,000 Group I MVRC Moir Stakes over the same course three weeks later.
