Son of Lonhro in Victoria

Breednet - Thursday August 16

With sons of Lonhro doing the job at stud - Pierro, Demnan, Demerit and Benfica all siring stakes winners whilst O'Lonhro has proven a consistent winner producer - Jeff Dosser is very happy to be giving his own Lonhro stallion Torch Relay a chance to do his bit.

LonhroA lightly raced two times winner over sprinting trips, Torch Relay has only small numbers on the ground but has been represented by the three times winner Owens and the lightly raced winner Flame Of Hope.

Hailing from a terrific Woodlands Stud family, Torch Relay is one of nine winners produced by the multiple city winner Olympic Flame - also dam of the durable dual Gr.1 winning sprinter Sports, the Gr.2 mare Seika and the fast Gr.3 galloper Medals.

Seika is continuing on her dam's good work at stud, producing the Macau Gr.1 winner Clown Master (Torch Relay's 3/4 brother) as well as the Gr.3 winner Clothilde.

Meanwhile another of her daughters has also clicked well with Lonhro, Dominion producing by him the Listed winner Territory.

Globe-trotting eight times Group One winner Takeover Target hails from this strong black-type family as does the Epsom Handicap winner High Law and the triple Gr. 1 winner Zirna and fellow Group winners Classic Uniform, Top Charger, Sparkle 'N' Wonder, Crafty Irna and Tavarnelle.

One of the country's most reliable stallions, the 11 times Gr.1 winning Lonhro has been well represented by 76 stakes winners including the big race winners Pierro, Impending, Exosphere, Denman, Kementari, The Conglomerate, Bounding, Beaded, Mental and Benfica.

His 71.2% winners-to-runners strike rate is one of the best in Australia and his black type stats of 6.7% are also impressive. And 88.4% of Lonhro's named foals make it to the track.

A horse well known for his professional, laid-back temperament, Lonhro has passed this attribute on to many of his progeny including Torch Relay who Jeff Dosser describes as having "a lovely calm temperament."

"And his foals are the same; they have his intelligence and great outlook to life."

Dosser has been seeking mares to support Torch Relay and is looking forward to supporting him with 14 this spring - delighted with the first he has by the well related stallion.

He is also rapt with how Torch Relay has let down; "he is looking fantastic, he is in tip-top condition."

Torch Relay stands at a fee of $1650 at Bangholme, Victoria. For further information contact Jeff Dosser on 0499 752 181.
