One to Watch – Cranbourne

Tara Madgwick - Thursday July 26
Outstanding sire Not a Single Doubt posted his 20th Australian two year-old winner of the season on Thursday with an impressive debut winner at Cranbourne on Thursday.

Not a Single DoubtPrepared by Robbie Griffiths, dashing grey filly Fidelia was tardy out of the gates for Jye McNeil and was the last away, but she recovered fast to muster speed and take up a position behind the leaders.

When angled into the clear after turning for home she showed an impressive change of gear to cruise past the leaders and win the 1000 metre maiden running away by more than a length.

It was an eye-catching performance with jockey and trainer both indicating Fidelia has stakes potential in the future.

A $170,000 Magic Millions Adelaide purchase from the Attunga Stud draft for Griffiths Racing/Peter Ford T'breds/McKeever B'stock, Fidelia was the second highest priced yearling at the sale and the most expensive filly.

She is the fifth winner from good producing Encosta de Lago mare Fidele, who comes from the family of Group II winner Faith Hill, Group III winner Simply Believe and stakes-winner Black Minx.

Fidelia traces back directly to former star grey filly of the eighties Pure of Heart (IRE), who won the Group I STC George Ryder Stakes for the Colin Hayes stable.

Fidelia looks a bright prospect for Not a Single Doubt, who stands at Arrowfield Stud at a fee of $99,000.
