Group One contenders at Warwick Farm trials

Breednet - Friday July 20
The Warwick Farm barrier trials on Friday kicked off with a strong heat containing three Group One winners and host of class gallopers building up for the spring while there were interesting two-year-olds as well.

Invincible StarThe opening heat was won by the Waterhouse/Bott trained I Am Invincible filly Invincible Star in her first public outing since going down narrowly to Merchant Navy in the Group One Coolmore Stud Stakes.

She beat Super Too and Magic Millions Guineas winner Pierata, while Group One winners D'Argento, Alizee and Single Gaze weren't out for serious efforts and all trialled nicely.

With an Everest berth looking unlikely for Invincible Star, the Moir Stakes in Melbourne has been slated as her likely return while Pierata and D'Argento are likely to resume in the Missile Stakes on August 4.

Of the juveniles, two promising youngsters in Sandbar and Santos fought out the ninth heat with Sandbar prevailing narrowly.

It was his first trial since finishing midfield in the Golden Slipper after previously winning the Lohnro Plate (LR) and finishing second in the Gr2 Pago Pago Stakes.

Likewise for Santos, who was having his first hit out since a 13thin the Golden Slipper which had followed a win in the Gr2 Skyline Stakes.

Another interesting winner was England (Fastnet Rock x Glorious), a $900,000 Inglis Easter buy trained by Chris Waller.

Listed in the form guide as a rig, he won a trial nicely in April but wasn't sent to the races with this his second outing.
