Winning Run of Smart Missile Shows No Signs of Slowing

Mark Smith - Wednesday July 18

The incredible winning run of Twin Hill Farm's new recruit Smart Missile continued to roll on at Sandown and Warwick Farm on Wednesday with his two-year-old daughters Grand Wish and Chevalier D'Eon fighting out the Ladbrokes Cash In Hcp (1200m) at Sandown while the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Island Missile romped home in the inter Racing Hcp (1400m) at Warwick Farm.

The Lloyd Kennewell-trained Isca Augusta nearly made it an interstate treble before having to settle for second at her career debut at Balaklava.

The David Brideoake-trained Grand Wish improved on her debut fourth over 1000 metres on the same track behind the smart Humma Humma back on July 4 to deny the favourite Chevalier D'Eon by a half-neck with Seewhatshebrings (Sebring) a half-head back in third.

After enjoying a cosy run one back on the rails, Noel Callow became hopelessly blocked between runners on Grand Wish as the backmarker began to swoop.

Callow drove Grand Wish through a narrow seam and the daughter of Smart Missile was strong through the line.

A homebred for her trainer, Grand Wish is a half-sister to Brideoake's Group 1 ATC The Galaxy winner Griante (Good Journey) herself a three-quarter sister to Brideoake's Group 1 Western Australian Derby winner Grand Journey.

Grand Wish is the fourth live foal of the unraced Strategic mare Grand Strategy a half-sister to Listed VRC Myer Spring Fashion Stakes winner Proliferate (More Than Ready).

Grand Strategy has and has a 2yo filly Brazen Beau and a weanling filly by Exceed And Excel.

She was covered by Exceed And Excel again last year.

Grand Wish becomes the 12th individual two-year-old winner for Smart Missile (pictured ) this season.

The son of Fastnet Rock will stand his debut season at Twin Hills at a fee of $13,200.
