Racenet analysis for the 2017 Rosebud

Breednet - Friday August 11

The Racenet Speedmaps and Racenet form analysts have combined to give punters a leg-up in the Listed Smithfield RSL Club Rosebud (1100m) at Rosehill on Saturday.

The Racenet speedmap for Saturday's Rosebud at Rosehill.

Racenet's Speedmaps spokesman Greg Polson said the race will be run at a solid tempo with a few on-pace runners engaged in the three-year-old handicap.

"It's only a relatively small field but there is enough pace engaged to expect a genuine tempo," Polson said.

"Siege Of Quebec comes back in distance but has led at each of his two starts so he'll kick-up off the inside gate.

"Perast is a speedy colt drawn the outside so he'll fire across whilst Menari will be splitting that pair and keeping them honest."

Corporate bookie Ladbrokes is offering $2.90 for the joint favourites Menari and Siege Of Quebec with $5 on offer about next in line Trekking. Diamond Tathagata is fourth on order of betting at $10 with the remainder of the field all in double-figures.

"The ratings have the race a lot more open than the market would suggest so there is an opportunity to find some value," Racenet form analyst Cameron Happ said.

"We have rated Menari on top at $4 with Siege Of Quebec and Trekking snapping at his heels – rated at $4.90.

"But there isn't much value among the favoured trio. You could find some marginal value with Trekking but the big overs rests with Diamond Tathagata.

"We've rated Mark Newnham's colt a $6.90 chance but Ladbrokes are offering $10 and if you lock in with the Odds Boost you can get a couple of points better again."
