$320,000 Record Price for Doubtland Yearling

Tara Madgwick - Sunday March 1

Rick Jamieson of Gilgai Farm is renowned as one of the finest breeders in Australia and he breeds for pedigree rather than the sale ring which can deliver a few surprises.

Gilgai Farm have a draft of 16 for Inglis Premier and they are by 10 different sires that include commercial heavy hitters such as Toronado (IRE), Too Darn Hot (GB) and Ole Kirk, but also some left of centre horses and one of those produced a huge result on Sunday.

$320,000 Doubtand colt from Granada Star.

He is the highest priced yearling for Doubtland, who stands at Widden Victoria at a fee of $13,200.

With his oldest progeny just three year-olds, Doubtland has been a sire on the radar for Gilgai Farm and they have two more fillies by him to be offered later in this sale.

Granada Star went back to Doubtland in 2024 and had a filly by him last spring before going to All Too Hard, who was also bred and sold by Gilgai Farm.
