Rebel Dane Filly Leads Widden Sires Trifecta in Listed Cinderella

Tara Madgwick - Sunday February 22

Rebel Dane shot to fame after siring Golden Slipper winning Champion 2YO Fireburn, but as so often happens when an unheralded stallion makes an early splash it can take a while for that initial result to transform into more ongoing success.

The Listed SAJC Cinderella Stakes (1050m) at Morphettville on Saturday had a red hot favourite in the Phillip Stokes trained filly Rebel Tuesday and she duly lived up to expectation.

The filly was tenacious to the line for Jacob Opperman, outpointing Dirty Work filly Never Ordinary to win by a head with Trapeze Artist filly Image Artist in third place to give Widden Stud based sires the trifecta.

Bred by Jen Campin Bloodstock, Rebel Tuesday was purchased as a yearling for $30,000 through the Inglis Digital November (Early) Online Sale by Darren and Liz Dance of Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock.

With two wins and two placings from four starts, she has won over $150,000 in prizemoney and is a half-sister to stakes-winner Ganbare.

She is the second SW among five winners from seven foals to race from Mardi, a metro winning Redoute’s Choice daughter of Group III winning stayer Bianca.

Rebel Dane has a strong crop of 2YOs this season.

Rebel Tuesday is the third stakes-winner for Rebel Dane, whose current two year-olds are from his biggest ever foal crop conceived at $27,500.
