$540,000 Colt a New Record for Harry Angel

Harry Angel (IRE) is one of those stallions that sneaks up on you, a shuttle stallion that arrives with little fanfare, just one of many at Darley and then slowly sets about building his reputation and at Inglis Classic on Monday he achieved his best ever sale result in Australia.

The Harry Angel stocks are looking good as we head into 2026 and not just because he covered his biggest book so far of 165 mares last spring at the newly increased fee of $66,000.

With his established Group I star Tom Kitten finding form at Caulfield last Saturday, his potential G1 winner in waiting Angel Capital primed to resume and G1 sprinter Private Harry now in work with new trainer Chris Waller, the stars are certainly looking to align.

Kirks Bridge Farm were well placed to ride the rising tide when they presented a chestnut Harry Angel colt from Sretan that is a full brother to Group II winner Stretan Angel, who was second in last year’s Group I VRC Lightning Stakes.

A muscular colt with a sprinter’s physique, he was knocked down to Equine Growth Fund Pty Ltd for $540,000 setting a new benchmark for a yearling by his sire.

Sretan produced a filly by Harry Angel (IRE) last spring and was then sent to City of Troy (USA).

Footnote: Harry Angel (IRE) enjoyed a great result at the 2023 NZB Ready to Run Sale when a 2YO colt from Monrecour sold for $800,000 to  Tartan Meadow Bloodstock / Andrew Williams Bloodstock.
