Personal Best for Anders at Karaka Book 1

Tara Madgwick - Monday January 26

A brilliant run by Farnan colt Magill to finish a close second to Dream Roca in the Karaka Million on Saturday put the spotlight on his yearling three-quarter brother by Anders, who sold for $380,000 at Karaka Book One on Monday.

$380,000 Anders colt from Jessica Rabbit.

Consigned by Milan Park, the second foal of Jessica Rabbit was knocked down to Game Lodge Ltd, the same purchaser that snapped up her first foal Magill at this sale last year for $230,000.

Read more here about Magill, who is now aimed towards the Group I Sistema Stakes.

Jessica Rabbit was purchased out of the 2021 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale for $420,000 by Bruce Perry Bloodstock and came with a big pedigree being a half-sister to Group I winner Oohood and also to the dam of dual Group I winning 2YO King’s Legacy.

The decision to go to third season sire Anders at a fee of $16,500 was a bold one for Milan Park’s Tony Rider, but one that has reaped a big reward.

The colt is now the highest priced yearling sired by Widden Stud’s Anders, who will have a key offering at next month’s Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.

Widden Stud will offer the half-brother to Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Unit Five as Lot 34.
