We know the sun will rise every morning and that thunder will always follow lightning, just as we knew Anamoe was going to dominate the first season sires at Magic Millions this year, but the stallion that was second on the list was a lot less predictable.

Anamoe was the only first season stallion to produce a seven figure yearling and his 31 yearlings offered by 18 different vendors were all sold for 100% clearance… impressive!

What that tells us is that vendors who have them to offer at upcoming sales can expect to be kept busy as it has quickly become apparent that everyone wants a piece of the Anamoe action.
Going forward Anamoe has 10 for Karaka Book 1, eight for Inglis Classic, 11 for Inglis Premier with the final number for Inglis Easter yet to be confirmed.
Yulong young gun Diatonic (Jpn) was next on the list with an average $272,000 off his $13,750 fee, although the return is academic in a sense given all of his yearlings bar one were offered by Yulong with the exception of the Bowness consigned colt from Vida Rose that was bought by Yulong for $220,000.
Bowness bought Vida Rose in foal to Diatonic from Yulong through Inglis Digital in early 2024 for $30,000, so they have indeed made a good profit!

Group I winners Jacquinot (Widden) and In the Congo (Newgate) were next on the list with a very similar average off an identical fee of $33,000.

Top seller for Jacquinot was a colt from Bonheur that made $425,000 for Widden Stud when bought by Ciaron Maher Bloodstock/David Redvers Bloodstock.

Top seller for In The Congo was Newgate Farm’s $625,000 colt from Stolen Jade that was bought by Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott/Kestrel Thoroughbreds.

Raheen Stud’s Group I winning Dark Angel stallion Top Ranked (IRE) sadly passed away last year and his one yearling in Book 1, a colt from Diddles offered by Daandine Stud, sold for $210,000 to Australian Bloodstock/Archibald Racing Pty Ltd.
Group I winners Artorius, Hitotsu and State of Rest (IRE) all have very different profiles and represent very different sirelines, but they all averaged quite similar and their top sellers are pictured below.

$220,000 Artorius colt from There You Go (NZ) offered by Lime Country Thoroughbreds and bought by Anthony Freedman Racing/Julian Blaxland Bloodstock (FBAA)/Kids Foundation.

$280,000 Hitotsu filly from Ms Rodarte offered by Arrowfield Stud and bought by Richard & Chantelle Jolly.

$250,000 State of Rest (IRE) colt from Matronymic offered by Newgate Farm and bought by Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott/Kestrel Thoroughbreds.
