One to Watch – Geelong

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday January 20

A well-bred Written Tycoon gelding made a super impressive winning debut at Geelong on Tuesday when trotting up to win by four lengths with the victory sure to be of interest to the purchasers of his three-quarter brother at Magic Millions last week.

Trained by Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr, Written Perfect was the top pick for punters in the 1225m maiden and their thinking proved correct when he was driven forward from an outside gate to lead by Beau Mertens and stayed there.

Written Perfect let down with a great turn of foot off the turn and was eased down on the line to win as he pleased.

Not offered for sale as a yearling, Written Perfect is the first winner for well related I Am Invincible mare Invencible, a full sister to Group winning filly My Gladiola from Group II winning sprinter Villa Verde.

Invencible had a good looking grey colt by Written By offered in the Widden Stud draft at Magic Millions last week and the three-quarter brother to Written Perfect was snapped up by Michael Freedman Racing/Darby Racing/AWB/De Burgh Equine for $300,000.

$300,000 Written By colt from Invencible sold at Magic Millions last week.

He should be an easy one to syndicate given his colouring and highly current pedigree with My Gladiola sure to be in the mix for the big sprint races of 2026.

Invencible went through Inglis Digital in February 2024 fetching $100,000 when carrying the Written By colt and was bought by Miller Thoroughbreds, who got a very nice return at Magic Millions.

The mare produced a colt by Harry Angel (IRE) last year before going to City of Troy (USA).
