The Magic Millions Yearling Sale last week was fertile ground for pinhookers with 23 yearlings selling for $100,000 or more above their weanling purchase price in Book 1.
First season sire Anamoe was a smart bet for investors and three of the top four pinhooks were by the Australian horse of the Year, who led the first season sire averages at the Gold Coast.
Topping the list was the Lime Country Thoroughbreds consigned filly that sold for $800,000 and is the fourth foal of stakes-winning Sebring mare Eawase, a daughter of Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Karuta Queen.

She was purchased by Sheamus Mills Bloodstock and sourced originally from the Alma Vale Thoroughbreds draft at the Inglis Weanling Sale for $340,000.

Newgate Farm also got $800,000 for their Anamoe filly from Kiki Express that was bought by Matt Laurie Racing/Willannah Park Bloodstock/ARJB.

She is the first foal of stakes-winning Sepoy mare Kiki Express and was sourced from the Newgate draft at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale for $360,000 by Ciaron Maher Bloodstock.

Third best pinhook was a filly with a big pedigree update being Pinatubo (IRE) from Bleu Zebra, whose two year-old colt by Stay Inside sold for $1million at this sale last year and came out and won the Group III ATC Breeders Plate as Incognito.

She made $600,000 for Bell River Thoroughbreds when bought by Ciaron Maher Bloodstock and was sourced for $280,000 from Eureka Stud at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale by Rohit Kumar.
