More Aussie Bred Success in South Africa

Darley shuttler Teofilo (IRE) added a new stakes-winner to his tally when Aussie bred three year-old Yakeen beat older horses at Turffontein on Sunday to win the Group III Jubilee Handicap.

Yakeen as a yearlingTrained by Mike de Kock for Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Yakeen scored a tenacious head win in the 1800 metre contest as favourite, taking his overall record to four wins from six starts.

A $160,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the Yarran Thoroughbreds draft for Form Bloodstock, Yakeen was bred by Larneuk Stud and is the second winner from Reine, an unraced half-sister by Royal Academy (USA) to Group I winner and sire Nadeem from dual Group I winner Candide.

Yakeen is the 76th stakes-winner for Teofilo , who returns to Darley in the Hunter Valley this spring at a fee of $44,000.

Other Aussie bred winners on the program were: Soqrat (2c Epaulette x Elzeeza), and Nafaayes (2f Exceed and Excel x Decelerator (USA)) and Dame Eleanor (4m New Approach (IRE) x Curtana).
