McAlpine Appointed Insurance Manager

After 19 years of valued service, Mark Lock has resigned from his position at NZB Insurance. We are pleased to note that Jane McAlpine has stepped up to assume the role of Insurance Manager. As many of you have already met Jane, you will know she is well versed in bloodstock insurance and understands the wider racing and equestrian community needs.

There has also been another new addition to the insurance stable, with the appointment of Rhys Mildon as Insurance Assistant. Jim Bruford continues to be a key part of the team, celebrating 32 years with NZB Insurance, while Kate Fox is currently on maternity leave and we look forward to welcoming her back to the team soon. Simone Morrison continues to be your go-to for all things accounts.

Jane's background spans a lifetime in the thoroughbred industry, beginning on a farm in the Waikato and having worked in stables across Australasia before moving into bloodstock insurance nearly 20 years ago. Jane is passionate about making insurance clear and accessible, translating technical terms into simple language and supporting clients through the claims process. Jane combines her professional expertise with a genuine love of following horses from foaling through to sales, racing, and breeding. Jim is an experienced Insurance Advisor at NZB Insurance, where he has played a pivotal role in shaping the insurance division since joining in 1993. With decades of expertise in bloodstock insurance, he remains a trusted figure within the team and racing community, providing continuity and deep industry knowledge. Rhys has a strong connection to the thoroughbred industry, having worked hands-on with racehorses, serving as an assistant to leading trainers, before recently joining the NZB Insurance team. His passion for racing and deep understanding of the industry now complements his role as Insurance Assistant at New Zealand Bloodstock, allowing him to combine industry knowledge with client support.
