Twilight Tale Tops Successful Magic Millions Digital Sale

Media Release - Wednesday January 7

Stakes performed Savabeel mare Twilight Tale topped the Magic Millions Digital Sale (2-7 Jan) today when selling to New Zealand interests for $115,000.

Go Racing and Blandford Bloodstock secured the four-year-old who was one of a handful of quality lots offered by Western Australia's Peters Investments.

Twilight Tale sold for $115,000.

The two-time winner, including a metropolitan success, had already placed twice at stakes level and looks an exciting racing and breeding prospect.

"We found the platform very easy to use," Go Racing's Albert Bosma, the successful buyer of the top seller, said.

"We actually had two of us watching the bidding on separate devices as it was closing and were amazed how responsive it was, even though we were bidding from rural New Zealand."

"The quality of the horses on offer demanded that we had to take the sale seriously," Bosma added.

Peters Investments, one of the Southern Hemisphere's most successful breeders, presented six lots at the sale with their other sellers including the blue blooded Regal Statue who went to Davison Racing for $90,000.

"Recently we've been doing our best to reduce numbers with so many young horses coming through, so sometimes these well bred and performed mares are the ones that put their hands up to be moved on," Liam Peters noted.

"It was great to see them get good results in the sale and we wish all their connections the best of luck," Peters added. "We will be definitely keeping an eye on their careers going forward."

Some 55 lots sold across the afternoon with a gross of $739,100 and clearance rate of over 73 per cent which will continue to rise as more private deals are finalised in the coming days.

Other good prices achieved for racehorses on the day included the Newgate pair of Quietly Arrogant ($65,000) and Lyon ($60,000), Arrowfield's Rematch ($32,500) and Star Thoroughbreds' Mannerheim ($22,500).

"The results of the sale were great," Star's Denise Martin said. "We are very thankful of Bryce and his team for such a smooth process and positive outcome."

Shares in quality gallopers including Jimmy's Brother and John Rambo were popular with buyers looking for a quick return in a proven quality runner.

"As soon as entries closed the entire Bloodstock team worked hard canvassing buyers for this sale and this work was reflected with who participated not only from across Australia but multiple countries," Magic Millions Head of Digital Bryce Bevan said.

"From this point forward we are running auctions on a fortnightly basis and the whole team is determined to carry this momentum forward for the rest of the year," Bevan added.
