Juvenile Trial Watch – Rosehill

Tara Madgwick - Friday January 2

There were four heats won by juveniles at Rosehill on Friday morning and the winners included Group III ATC Breeders Plate winner Incognito, who has a half-sister headed to MM 2026.

The Michael Freedman trained son of Stay Inside was set an easy task, jumping quickly and then restrained to cruise along in second on the fence while Home Affairs filly Miss Scandal set the pace in front.

He was shaken up by Tommy Berry to take the lead and powered to the line held together to beat the filly by a long neck with nearly four lengths back to the rest.

Bought for $1million at Magic Millions, Incognito was the highest priced yearling from the first crop of Stay Inside and he has a yearling half-sister by Pinatubo (IRE) to be offered at MM this year as Lot 111 by Bell River Thoroughbreds.

Lot 111 is the half-sister to Incognito.

Running significantly quicker time was good looking Written Tycoon colt Written in Munny, who showed plenty of improvement from his first quiet trial last month. Ridden forward from the gate this time by Tommy Berry, he responded well to cross and lead, keeping up a good gallop to the line to win by three-quarters of a length.

Also ran to keep an eye on was Pinatubo (IRE) filly Sequinned. The Chris Waller trained half-sister to Bivouac was very green and not asked for a lot but closed off better than OK.

A $360,000 Magic Millions purchase from Segenhoe for Kurrinda Bloodstock/Richard & Will Freedman, Written in Munny is the first foal of imported stakes-winner Always Inthemunny (USA) and her second foal is a filly by I Am Invincible that will be offered at MM  2026 by Segenhoe as Lot 45.

Lot 45 is the half-sister to Written in Munny.

Unraced Satin Summer was lining up for her fourth trial and this was the best so far from the Michael Freedman trained daughter of Written Tycoon. The well bred filly went forward for Tommy Berry to take the lead and stayed there winning by a length over Zoustar colt Inner Gold.

A homebred for Mrs Belinda Bateman, Satin Summer is a half-sister to stakes-winner Satin Slipper from Group II winner Satin Shoes.

Additional trial winner was Krasina (Russian Revolution).
